Thai · Abu Dhabi
Thai cooking for Abu Dhabi tables.
Curries finished by a chef at the counter, salads dressed on the day and grills from award-winning Asian restaurant recipes, brought anywhere in the emirate.
Many Abu Dhabi parties bring several nationalities to one table, and Thai food is the menu most of them agree on. Lemongrass, galangal and coconut carry the flavour, so the chilli can be turned right down for children and older guests while the ones who like heat ask the chef for more.
Gaurav Varma, our Chief Executive Officer, looks after Abu Dhabi bookings directly from the head office at ADGM on Al Maryah Island. The recipes are those of the group's Asian restaurants, named Best South East Asian Restaurant by Time Out in 2011.

At the counter
The Thai curry counter at an Abu Dhabi party.
The chef keeps the coconut base warm and finishes each portion in front of the guest with the paste, the vegetables and the chicken, prawns or tofu, then spoons it over jasmine rice. Green is the brightest and hottest, red is rounder and Panang is thick and nutty. Massaman lamb needs a long, slow cook, so it goes on the buffet beside the counter.
Hosts often pair it with a second Asian counter, such as the live khao suey station for Burmese curry noodles or the Asian wok. Packages include their counters, one on Classic, two on Premium and three on Luxury, and the dishes a counter cooks take the place of mains on the menu.
For forty guests
A Thai lunch for forty on Classic.
Classic gives four starters, three mains, one rice, three salads or sides and one dessert. For a Thai lunch that could be tom kha, chicken satay, mini Thai corn cakes and Thai holy basil fish; massaman lamb, Thai yellow curry with prawns and the Thai basil veg stir-fry; jasmine rice; glass noodle, pomelo and shredded chicken salads; and mango sticky rice, with the Thai curry counter as the live station.

Who books it
Abu Dhabi parties that pick Thai.
- A family gathering in Khalifa City or Mohammed Bin Zayed City where the grandparents want Indian food and the children's friends would rather have something else.
- A team lunch at an ADGM or Mussafah office, laid out as a buffet so nobody waits to be served.
- A sunset evening on a Saadiyat or Yas terrace, with satay and lemongrass skewers taken round as guests arrive. Passed food brings one waiter for every 10 guests.
- A meat-free table: veg green and red curries, Panang vegetable, tofu in red curry, both glass noodle salads and mango sticky rice.
Across Abu Dhabi
Where we cater in Abu Dhabi.
We cater across the emirate: villas on Saadiyat, Yas, Al Raha, Khalifa City, Mohammed Bin Zayed City and Al Bateen; towers on Al Reem, Al Maryah and the Corniche; and offices from ADGM to Mussafah. Our head office is at ADGM on Al Maryah Island.
Island and gated communities clear our vehicle with security before the day, and towers usually book the service lift for us. Tell us the community or building when you book and we send what security asks for.
Parties we have catered in Abu Dhabi this year include a forty-guest party in Al Shamkha, a dinner for thirty in a tower apartment, a staff lunch for thirty in Mussafah and a dinner for twenty at a villa in Al Seef.
Common questions
Answers before you ask.
- Is there a Thai caterer in Abu Dhabi for a private party?
- Yes. We cook Thai food for parties across Abu Dhabi, from tower apartments on Al Reem to villas on Saadiyat and Yas, with the curries finished at a live counter. The minimum is 20 guests.
- What does Thai catering in Abu Dhabi cost?
- Thai sits on the same three packages as the rest of our menu, at AED 140, 180 and 210 a guest, with one AED 500 catering setup and 5% VAT added. Forty guests on Classic as a buffet comes to about AED 6,405.
- Which Thai dishes are vegetarian?
- The veg Thai green and red curries, Panang vegetable curry, Thai red curry with tofu, the Thai basil veg stir-fry, crispy sriracha tofu, mini Thai corn cakes and both glass noodle salads. Tom yum and tom kha can be made without meat. The vegetable pad Thai has egg, and the papaya and pomelo salads are made with seafood.
- Can the Thai food be made mild for children?
- Yes. Tell us the heat when you book and the kitchen cooks to it. The chef at the curry counter can add fresh chilli for anyone who wants more.
- Do you cook massaman curry?
- Yes. Massaman lamb curry is on the menu and goes on the buffet beside the curries from the counter.
- Do you charge more for Saadiyat, Yas or Al Reem?
- No. The AED 500 catering setup is the same across the emirate, islands included. Gated island communities need our vehicle cleared with security, so tell us the community when you book.
- Can you cater in an Abu Dhabi apartment or tower?
- Yes. A dinner for thirty in a tower apartment is one of our recent parties. Live counters run on butane indoors, and tandoor and charcoal need a garden or terrace.
